Master Craftsman Umialiloalahanauokalakaua "Umi" King Kai, in a video interview, answers the question, "What is your favorite weapon?" as a master weapon maker and respected *?Olohe Lua* (master of traditional Hawaiian martial arts) with Pa Kui A Lua.
Having spent decades crafting a wide array of traditional Hawaiian implements and weaponry, Umi reflects on his evolving connection with the weapons he creates. Though he has crafted many iconic tools and weapons—ranging from shark-tooth weapons to spears—he reveals that his favorite weapon is always changing and also anything can be a weapon. Currently, he is most drawn to the *Ko?o Ko?o*, a versatile Hawaiian fighting staff or sometimes a much smaller unassuming wand length used both in battle and daily life.
