Puumaiterangi

2m

Puumaiteragi is a Waka from Aotearoa carved by Hoturoa Kerr. Hoturoa and his crew, representing Te Toki Voyaging Trust, traveled to Hawai’i for the 13th annual Festival of the Pacific Wa’a ceremony at Hakipu’u, O’ahu. The Aotearoa crew brought two traditional Maori Waka with them to the ceremony, and we were able to capture the first moment Puumaiteragi was put in Hawai’i waters during the preparation days leading up to the official Wa’a ceremony.
